Plain Glass Products

Plain glass is used for many purposes but three major uses are for window glass, picture glass and greenhouse glass. Each is different in specification and thickness dependant upon its use.

Window Glass

Can be 3mm, 4mm or 6mm panes. Toughened Glass should be used whenever there is a danger of persons walking into or falling through the window, such as on single pane patio doors and French windows, and also on any large window mounted above the ground floor.

Greenhouse Glass

Will normally be 2mm for lightness, with the the exception of of moving windows and doors which should be 3mm.

Toughened & Laminated Glass
Laminated glass fractures but does not shatter. Typical use of laminated glass is in car windscreens but can be used for many purposes where it is important that an impact does not produces dangerous shards of glass

Coloured Glass for Design and Effect

Bevelled Glass
Bevelling of glass edges is very effective with thicker and/or coloured glasses for ornamental or decorative purposes. The picture below illustrates this.

Painted Glass
Flat or curved, geometric or shaped, laminated or toughened; glass can be painted. Ceramic or screen printed fired-in glass in toughened form is the most popular and durable. Screen printing provides the most versatility with regard to original designs on glass, as a one-off screen is produced through which the paint is applied prior to being fired onto the surface of the glass. Back painted glass is also available in annealed and laminated forms.

Leaded-Lights
Leaded light may be used for effect in many situations. In external doors, landing windows and skylights, as well as for artistic effects just about anywhere. We make up or repair leaded-lights using our own specialised craftsmen on the premises. (SEE OUR SERVICES PAGE)

Use to re-create the period effect of glass spun by hand.

Georgian Wire Polished Plate (clear) GW CAST (opaque)
Re-enforced with wire inside the glass for added security.

Mirrors
We can supply a large range of both traditional and modern mirrors for all settings and environments. The range is too large to list, but whatever you need we are sure to be able to help.
